Alfred has snippets, it's like TextExpander: small pieces of text get expanded into full phrases, or even whole scripts get executed.

    Hi! I am a new user to Monarch 👋. This request is also my number one feature request. I miss having this functionality from raycast.

    My use case: I am applying to several jobs every day, and many times they ask for my LinkedIn URL, GitHub URL, email, etc. I want to type my custom short text that auto expands into the relevant URL or email I need to input. Raycast was great at this.

      Hey!

      Thanks for saying this. I actually have a special place in my heart for doing anything I can to alleviate the pain of our broken job search system. You are absolutely fucking right. Except the part that Raycast is great at this.

    Seconding the request for snippets! Been a monarch user for over a year and have a new need for this feature. Would love to see it implemented

      Thanks for the bump! How deep does your snippet usage/workflow go? The primary reason I’ve been on the fence with this one is due to it seeming like people can’t really use any aspect of a new snippets implementation unless it does everything from day 1, making it a bigger upfront commitment than almost all other features

    Is Alfred currently your favorite implementation of Snippets? Is there anything you wish were different or any features you saw outside of Alfred that you wish were in there? This is the chance to shape it!

      Yes, Alfred is indeed. Alfred seems to be finicky sometimes, expanding Sander Datema to "Sander DaSander Datema" for example.

      I love how you can group snippets and give them a prefix of suffix.

      But it's not easy scripting the expansions. You can with workflows, but if you have many, you end up with a canvas full of workflows. So a plus would also be the UI part of the snippet management.

        Great thanks! Do you have a screenshot of the part where you give them a prefix or suffix? Screen recording might be even better if you can!

            Thanks for sharing! I will circle back to this after the next update and see how we can roll it out. Would you be open to an incremental rollout of Snippets or do you need it all at once in order to even start using snippets in another app?

              I'm afraid an incremental rollout would be difficult practically. I have all my snippets in Alfred now and I don't think two apps should be fighting for those snippets.
