Send a message to a contact from within Monarch
I often send quick messages (e.g. “I’m on my way”, “How’s everything going?”) to key contacts. It’d be nice to be able to do this within Monarch. I am imagining a syntax that’s like “message <contact name> message goes here”. Personally I only need iMessage support but the flexibility of allowing WhatsApp and other options could be good. I would also like to be able to Superlink particular contacts, so I could message my wife by just using a single letter command prefix.

The promotional image for v0.7 appears to suggest this is already possible but despite thoroughly reading the manual I can’t make sense of how. I assume it’s a superlink and you need to do something to look up how deep URIs with whatever custom schema work for Messages.app?

Which promotional image are you referring to? If you can send a message via deeplink, then you can send one via Superlink

I’m not actually sure it’s depicting sending a message to someone, it seems to be depicting opening messages to a particular conversation. That’d still be useful, and I still don’t know how to do it (I assume messages has some kind of deep linking URI schema I can look up), but it’s not quite what I thought it was?

Ah I see, that’s actually a Shortcut I made that I call “Send Message” and I have Shortcuts enabled in Monarch, so they show up right there. And I trigger it and the shortcut runs as you’d expect. This is okay … but I think that there can be a much better user experience, so I don’t think that Shortcut is enough
