original item search stays

Currently when searching for an item and then selecting a search result, the item I click changes what I searched for. Example, I type asd then click on item, the items name overwrites asd, now I forget or don’t know what I originally searched for, would be nice even if I select the result for the original typed content to stay, either that be default or an added option for the search to stay.
